Comments:

My first QSO was as 0215 UTC. I thought the NS started at 0300 UTC. (Not
having regularly been in the NS for a while and with time changes, I was late
at the gate.) Too many time changes for me with my having recently been in OH
for several days on EDT, then the time change to "standard," and then back to
Central time, more clock changes, etc.) Around 0200 UTC, I was getting ready to
prepare my NS log file, and I decided to recheck my e-mail for N6RO's NS
announcement for this week. I was surprised to see that the NS started at 0200
UTC. Bah, Humbug!

After preparing my log file and connecting the antennas I tried to jump into
the action. At first, I could not hear any signals on 20 meters, and I only
heard a few, very weak signals on 40 meters...now what's wrong? After a little
while, I noticed that my KD9SV, RX antenna control box/preamp was on the
"Beverage" setting, and no RX antennas had been connected to the RX antenna
switch that feeds the "box." Then, I switched the RX box to the XMIT antenna
setting and voila, loud signals aplenty on 40 meters. DUH!!!

I tried to play catch up after 0220 UTC when the code speed limit was removed.
As usual, I had many unaswered CQs and lost numerous jump balls. So what else
is new, eh?! :)

Anyway, it was good to be back in the NS action again. I like the one-hour
format -- a great idea! I hope that scheme stays for a while.

Thanks for the Qs, Ms, and fun. Thanks also to the NCCC Sprint management in
keeping this event alive and well.

QSOs via an IC-756PRO3, Win-Test, 40-2CD yagi, 80m inverted V dipole, and 160m
inverted L. RX antennas not needed since the noise level was down tonight.

73,
    Gary
