Comments:

Stayed in the chair a little longer than planned after working many difficult
sections by Sunday mid-morning incl NL and NT (VE8EV), with Sweep visions
clouding my thinking. KL7 and KH6 back to back on 40m early Sunday AM and then
4 new sections in 5 consecutive QSOs (MB, PR, SK, & NT) a little later operating
as *NON-assisted* had me wondering...

With 8 of 10 sections still needed in the Pacific Northwest, an area where I
have NO real 15/20m antenna directivity to, it was a challenge. Could not get
any runs going on 20m and my Q count suffered greatly there. Fifteen meters
served me better but still no real runs, almost all S&P...very slowly got the
needed mults there with a couple more back on 20m during band checks.

Later, with some breaks in-between, and just 4 sections left, I eventually got
thru the massive pile-up on 20m to W6TK in SB after many, many, many returns of
the freq. memory button while continuing to S&P. Time and my luck though had
mostly run out...managed NV in last 40 min on 40m but both AB and the nearby QC
(after 300+ low band Q's!) remained elusive. Never heard Quebec and only heard
VE6 in S&P mode. Limited VE SS participation in many sections certainly keeps
the Sweep portion of this event so challenging for us low power/wire antenna
guys. Still fun for sure.

Had a few nice runs on 40m Sunday early AM and 80m late Sunday. The 88'
doublet up at 50' seems to work particularly well for domestic work on 40m and
appears good on 80m too. Interesting to work KG4EM in Guantanamo Bay for the
VI section! Thanks to all for the Q's...hope to be active in Dec. on Topband
for ARRL 160 and Stew Perry TBDC, as well as the ARRL 10m 'test as time
permits.

Station: '93 vintage Icom IC-737, 88' doublet at 50' and OCF multi-band dipole
up <30', MFJ 929 auto-tuner, Heil headset/mic with footswitch activation, N1MM
logger.

"We now return to our regularly scheduled 'CW contest programming'" ...cu on
c-dub!

73,

Bill W1WBB
