Comments:

I was up in Potsdam NY during the contest visiting, it was a balmy 5 degrees
when I got there. Potsdam got down to -28F this weekend. Like K2QO said,
that's cold. Upstate NY, cold and snowy, gotta love it! It was -18 here at
home this morning.

I was planning on putting on FN25, FN24, FN23, FN14 and FN13 but only heard a
couple weak stations on the air from any of the northern grids. So I operated
when I got home late Sunday. No QSOs from up north.

The VHF contest has really died out. Used to be you could work 100+ QSO's from
the Rochester NY area alone. And where are all those new licensee's?

Everytime I called a W1 it seemed like they immediately turned their antennas
towards NJ. There are W2's in upstate NY you know! Getting the 3's to point
north seems difficult too.

One k1 told me I was the only FN13 they had on any band! There are a lot of
hams in FN13 too, but no longer operating the VHF contest I guess.

So I'll try the northern grids again in June, I visit Potsdam NY often.

73 Scott W2LC
