Comments:
QSO total, mults and score were all down compared with last year (2010).
Spent most of daytime Friday outside in the cold fixing up various receive
antennas, as well as installing the transmit antenna (it's a field-day style
set-up here with no permanent antennas!). Despite the best of intentions, just
couldn't keep awake beyond 04z the first night, and missed the sunrise period
completely on Saturday morning.
However was able to keep going all night Sat/Sun and the Sunday morning sunrise
brought in some nice signals from the West Coast, but not as many as in 2010.
The last QSO on Sunday morning was VO1HP at 0855z. Although several W6s and two
VE7s could still be heard around 0830z, most were not able to hear me by this
time. The few W7s worked were all in AZ with the exception of one in NV. The
number of States/Provs worked this year at 43 was well down on last year's 49.
The last few hours from tea-time on Sunday through to the end at 22z were
deadly dull with the hourly QSO rate dropping through the floor.
The DXCC highlight was being called by CE1/K7CA for an all-time new one on
topband.
Transmit antenna : dipole with centre at 90ft (yes, I know, I should be using a
vertical with a gazillion radials!)
Receive antennas : three Beverages : SE 450ft, NW 650ft and (VP8ORK direction
203 deg) 650ft.
Radio : K3 + Acom 2000
