Comments:
This was a lazy man's almost full time effort. Slept in Saturday morning,
starting an hour late (just after 6 am), took time off late morning when
nothing was open to EU, and quit early (at 2:15 am) before 80 opened to JA. Did
a bit of SO2R once things slowed down, which helped pick up mults and stations
on 15 and 10.
Conditions were really stinko. 15 never really opened to EU, although I did
work a few EU stations, and even on 20M, it was only the big stations who were
coming through, and who could copy me. As usual, most of the Chinese stations
were deaf, almost certainly due to high RF noise levels -- several were solid
S8, but couldn't hear my 1.5kW. And, as usual, too many of the big EU stations
were steaming away at 35 wpm when auroral flutter was making them nearly
uncopyable. What is it in the human psyche that makes these guys believe that
when signal is being fluttered by the path, that there's won't be too?
On the positive side, activity was surprisingly high. And despite the QRN, 160
worked better than expected. VE1ZJ called me with the zone 9 multiplier, KH7Y
gave me zone 61, NO3M contributed zone 8, and VE3EJ pulled me out of heavy QRN
for zone 4.Thanks for all the Qs.
73, Jim K9YC
