Club: Arizona Outlaws Contest Club

Comments:

Operating portable configuration from 7600' Mingus Mtn. in Yavapai county. This
was a good location for shakedown of a homebrew "miniquad" antenna with a 7
watt battery powered rig. Smoke and smell of same was evident throughout the
operation. Could'nt help but think of the people involved in this tragedy.
Combined the outing as a "picnic" with the xyl so she could help haul the
equipment up the trail to the operating position. Hey, she did help build the
antenna! Nice openings early to the Pacific SW and then later on to the SE US.
Will make a more concerted effort in the September VHF contest now that I know
everything works well.
