Comments:

Rig : Kenwood TS-590S, Elecraft K-3
Antennas : 3/2wl 80M loop at 150', 80M Delta Loop at 75'

Soapbox: Part time effort, and spent this weekend comparing these two rigs on
SSB. The net result is that they are just about equal as for receiver
performance, dynamic range, and operation. I wound up using the Kenwood more
than the K-3 because it was more user friendly to operate and had better sound
to my ears. The TS-590S was also my favorite after using both in the ARRL CW
contest. Band conditions seemed great with 15m showing its colors after a long
dormant period. Booming signals here at 10,000' on top the mountains in central
Colorado, especially from Asia, on all the bands except 80M. I had snow static
on 80M and just couldn't seem to get through the pile-ups as I did on the higher
bands. Never heard anything tuning across 10M, but I was probably on at the
wrong time judging from the spots. Heard a lot of GMCC members (yeah, you guys
always beat me in the pile-ups) and heard a lot of my FCG guys as well. Paul,
N4PN, you had a HUGE signal out here and beat me to the JA's even though I'm
2,000 miles closer, hi!

One advantage of these two radios, the ATU's are so fast that I could switch
antennas and hit the ATU and be ready in a few seconds. (The K-3 couldn't match
my loop on 80M and 40M so had to use a tuner to help it.)
