Comments:
Hearty congratulations to the W3LPL team. They continue to set the
bar very high for Multi Multi competition here in the USA and that is what
makes "MM" so cool. Their major efforts in the DX contests are outstanding.
The K3LR contest effort this weekend was dedicated to the memory of my
contesting mentor, Drew, W8GFG, who became a silent key last week (3/1/11).
Drew introduced me to contesting and we are sad that he is gone.
What an awesome weekend here at K3LR! More sunspots and more high band QSOs!
Our score was much higher this year compared to last year. Ten meters is back
with an amazing long path opening to Asia!
The on air activity was great and there was lots of DX for all 48 hours.
Sharing our friendship with others around the world is what makes this the most
amazing hobby in the world.
My thanks to the talented K3LR contestmen that traveled from the USA (New
Jersey, New Hampshire, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Texas and Oklahoma), Ontario,
Canada, Mexico and Germany to be a part of this special weekend. There are some
amazing rates and lots of interesting DXCC multipliers that were worked this
weekend. It is awesome to operate with these guys and I am thankful to the K3LR
team for their dedication to the K3LR MM events.
No K3LR effort happens without the dedicated hard work of Dave, W9ZRX who puts
the entire computer network together for each contest and helps with many of
the K3LR station projects. The preparation paid off!
The ice storm here caused several rotor problems here at K3LR. Our 40 meter
team had some bad luck with the direction indication of the antenna for 8 hours
- but W5OV and VE3EJ never gave up. We are happy they did so well.
The K3LR station description is at http://www.k3lr.com click on HARDWARE
K3LR QSL cards are available on ARRL LoTW, eQSL and via the QSL Bureau.
Also via direct mail. We QSL 100 percent.
We are looking foeward to the CQ WorldWide contests this Fall.
Hope to meet you at Visalia in April or in Dayton, Ohio this coming May!
