Comments:

SO1R. FT1000MP or FT1000MP Mark V, AL1200, 80M flat top, 40M 2 el beam at 90',
C31XR at 60', C3 at 100', C19 fixed on US at 35'. The new fixed beam was very
helpful when one of the top three bands was open to Europe/Western
Asia, and North America for a quick switch. It seems to be a very quiet
antenna, but the C31XR outperforms it to the US. Didn't try 160M this year. I
made three QSOs on 160 last year and that was a waste of time. A few quick runs
on 80 were fun. Not much DX worked on that band. 40M is the money band for
this contest due to the point structure and also the 40M beam here is very
effective. Didn't think 40M was quite as good as last year. Think 20 was
better than last year with openings almost around the clock. 15M was quite
good, but effective openings seemed quite late and Europe stayed in late. 10M
was extraordinary last year, and there was a fair opening on Sunday afernoon
this year, but nothing like the Saturday opening last year. Before the
contest, 10M was open in the late afternoons and I made about 1K QSOs one
afternoon, mostly in Europe. There was a fair amount of DX in this contest
even though a rare country counts the same as any other multiplier in a given
continent. QSL cards have been printed and I will answer bureau and direct
requests as they are received. Bureau cards may be requested by e-mail to
k4bai at att.net.

Thanks to K4IQJ for coming down to DX while I contested (and he made some
contest QSOs too after it developed that there isn't a lot of WARC band
activity during a major HF contest). Dick also brought down a K9AY loop that
was very helpful for receiving, especially on the low bands. Dick is a retired

EE professor from Auburn (some of you may have heard his presentation on groups
of K9AY loops at the antenna forum in Dayton). QSL PJ4/K4IQJ via home call.
KU8E will post the contest log for PJ4A to LOTW shortly. Thanks for all the
QSOs. I hope to be back here for CQ WW CW in November. We will return home
Tuesday. 73, John, K4BAI.
