I'm posting my (undoubtedly) lowest score ever while you guys are NS'ing after
removing the flat screen monitor from the remote ASUS weenie confuzer and
turning everything off in disgust.

I've taken a break from the NS after the last confuzion episode. I had not
planned to operate tonight, but was (FATALLY) attracted to the original
callsign vs. name deal when I read the NCCC Blue post about 0215 UTC. This
seemed pretty straightforward. So I scrambled to get things set up, calibrated
the confuzer clock to UTC, quickly cloned my TR4W NSLADDER .cfg file into an
NSPRACTICE folder and then did a FIND/REPLACE to change RICK to KN6VVA.
Everything seemed good to go.

Called CQ at 03:00:01 UTC after my VVV warmup, and Joe/N8EA responded. Seemed
like a slam-dunk exchange until I pushed the Enter button but no "R" came out &
the QSO would not log. WTF? Sorry you were left hanging, Joe, until I pushed
F12 to manually send R or TU (can't remember which).

I discovered that the normal NS .cfg file would NOT accept Joe's original WN2
callsign in place of a name, but rather modified the callsign that would end up
being logged for the QSO. In NORMAL Contest operating, being able to correct a
callsign on-the-fly in the same field line as all the other exchange data is
the Cat's Meow in TR4W. But the callsign vs. name change substitution screwed
things up...and something else was whacked out.

No more derivations of the standard NS LADDER format for me. Bah Humbug ;-)

73 & Tnx for the QSO, Joe...

Rick, K6VVA * The Locust
