Comments:

This was the first outing under my new-to-me callsign. I'm a little surprised
that I only fumbled my call a couple of times. At the very least, running in a
phone contest is one way to engrave the new letters in one's brain!

Also, this was my first contest using a new toy -- about a week ago I added a
panadapter to the station. It definitely sped up the S&P process, and I have a
new appreciation for the comments that others have made about how a panadapter
really helps identify potential run frequencies. Even though I still probably
played S&P too much, I felt a little more confident in deciding when/where to
start and stop running with the added intelligence.

Didn't hear or see a peep on 10 meters the one time I popped up there.
Propagation on 15m was abysmal at the start of the contest; it improved later,
but by then it seemed like everyone had forgotten about the band.

80 and 160 meters were surprisingly decent, once the party moved down to the
low bands. That definitely reduced any residual suffering from slogging
through the unhappy intersection of a phone contest and poor propagation on the
higher bands.

Highlights for me included getting called by a VE8 station on 20m, and in
having someone be surprised that I was only running barefoot on 160m.

Station: K3, LP-PAN, N1MM, 80m Carolina Windom @ 20m, 160m Carolina Windom @
