SUCCESS in SE Georgia...Although conditions on 10m generally "sucked", the 10m
Multi-Single effort at K4WP was a huge success. Bill, K4WP and Jere, KT4ZB
sponsored a weekend "hands on" Contest Training session for members of the
Coastal Area Radio Society (CARS) in Savannah. This was the first contest
experience for several of the members and most had not used contest logging
software in a true contest environment. That coupled with using a high end
rig, Elecraft K3, matching amplifier and multiple antennas with switching
provided plenty of shouts of joy as new DX and stateside folks were logged. We
now have 9 more club members who understand the basics of contesting and are
ready to get their feet wet in the upcoming contests.

While the score may be meager by contest standards, our ops gained experience
in listening to hard to copy stations, improving their S&P skills and several
were on calling CQ and logging stations. Fun DX for the ops included FY8, CR6,
XE2, LS6, CE2, IQ9, ZF1, HK3,YY4, 8P2, PJ2, PT5, J79, YV8, P40, EA8, OA4, ZS4,
XQ1, D4, CT1, HI3, KP4, ZM1 AND VK2.

Long time contestor, Larry, N4FD stopped by to say "Hi" and the CARS VE crew
journeyed to the station to hold a VE session for one of the club members, Ann,
KK4ICS, who is now KK4ICS/AE. Congratulations to Ann on this fine
accomplishment.

Bill cooked up the best Chicken Barley soup and there was tons of food, cookies
and cake for all. Bill is a avid "Georgia Southern" fan so many of us enjoyed
the team's playoff success on the big flat screen.

Thanks to all for the contacts and look for these folks to active in futue
contests.

For the crew - Jere, KT4ZB

Dwight K4YPM

Elecraft K3, Elecraft KPA500 at 350w, SteppIR, 5 element HY-Gain monobander,
