Comments:

After lightning hit the 160m elevated vertical 7 days prior to the contest this
was more of a "lets see what has been broken event" for us. The first thing
discovered was connectors on the 160 vertical matching system totally blown
apart. One 160 radial was 90% vaporized. Damage to the dedicated 160m radio.
Damage to the amp that goes with it (an Alpha). Damage to another smaller amp.
Lost router and wireless access point. It even got to a rotor on the tower
nearest the vertical and jumped over to one of the radials on one of the 80m
vertical and all we could find of that were several pieces of wire melted and
laying on the ground....the rest....vaporized. I guess it got into the shack
via some of the control lines which at the end of it all several pieces of
equipment were affected. Yeah, it sucks! Especially when trying to get the
station in order for WPX SSB next month.
