Comments:
Special thanks to Jim, W7GNP, at Horned Toad Acres for the use of his excellent
shunt-fed tower. My first CQWW160CW in about 10 years; The FUN and FRUSTRATION,
almost at the same time, come back to me now...
The FUN of all that DX packed into one Friday evening (it was conspicuously
absent Saturday night) and the FRUSTRATION at trying to copy ESP-level signals
through the QRN, followed by the FUN of working all 49 states in 8 hours,
followed by the FRUSTRATION in realizing that there are 50 states and KL7 was
nowhere to be found.
The FUN of having VP6T and HK0NA call ME, and the FRUSTRATION of hearing
virtually NO European stations; the FUN of working over 30 JAs, and the
FRUSTRATION of single-digit rates for most of Sunday morning. The FUN of
busting a pileup on the first call, and the FRUSTRATION of what should be an
easy mult just CQ-in-your-face over and over. The FUN of instantaneous rates
of 200 Q/min (even if only for a short time), and the FRUSTRATION of hearing a
mult that you need S&P down the band, and no matter where you park yourself, he
never seems to appear where you think he should; followed by the FUN of this
same mult answering your CQ two hours later, mixed in with a bunch of local
QSOs.
In my mind, the FUN easily wins out! Another great CQWW160CW test. I shouldn't
have stayed away for so long.
