My first IARU HF Chamionship in 30 yrs of contesting!

Sorry I operated mainly CW. Propagation was not so bad as expected, expecially
the first 12 hours. I QSYed too late on 40 meters when prop was still going on
on 15 (and on 10!). Lost asian mults on 40.

Heard VA7ST - as well other west coast rocky mountains stations - on 10 meters
but he/they wasn't/weren't able to copy me against the south american signals
(It was back scatter but signal was clear here). Please remember to listen for
southern EU signal when prop seems to be over on 10 meters beaming antennas
further south than to direct path.

I decided to partecipate as SOMIXED HP when I knew my friend Matt IZ3EYZ was
not able to work superb station IR4X on saturday morning. But an other
superstation was active in my EU Rank area for WRTC qualification. It was DR1A
operated by "super YL" Sandy, DL1QQ -.

My station is not comparable to DR1A but my QTH is better...so the competition
was head to head. I operated mostly on higher band than Sandy and mostly on CW
(mistake... as rates on SSB are faster).

Also my bad skill using SO2R environment played in favor of Sandy. I operated
abt 10% of time my second radio and lost a lot of time S&P looking for mults.

Also, SH5 says more of 2 hours breaktime :-( !!!

Nowadays, as Jose CT1BOH says, "If you are not calling and if you are not
S&Ping at the same time.... you are loosing!". So it was!

Congratulations to Sandy DL1QQ for her partecipation. I think WRTC 2014 is over
for me.

I enjoyed very much the contest and I thank you very much for the QSOs.
Congratulations also to my friends IO9HQ (IO0HQ) from Mount Arcibessi for their
signal on 10 meters SSB (great signal).

CU in next contests!

Fabio, IT9GSF.

P.S.: all my audio is recorde so if you want to ear your signal send an email I
will send back an audio file (VA7ST?)....
