Comments:

Conditions seemed very similar to last year. A couple of thoughts about each
band:

160- Didn't bother hooking up the antenna.

80- Europe was almost non existant Friday night, Saturday night was a little
better, but still slim pickins.

40- Felt ho hum to Europe. Great run to Japan Sunday morning. Lots of JA
stations and they were all loud. Also had some good stuff call in like 9V1YC,
JT5DX, 9M8Z, and HS0JZU. In total I worked 241 JA stations on 40 meters. I
took a little nap around 9:00 PM Saturday night with the intention of waking up
at 11:30 P.M. For some reason, my alarm didn't go off! At 12:18 local time, my
wife sent me a text, and the vibrating of my phone caused me to wake up. Would
have slept through the European opening if she hadn't of done that.

20- Not much happening here. Could never get a run going into Europe or
Japan.

15- Nice opening into Japan at the start of the contest as well as Russia, even
had VU2DSI call in at 0200Z. Of course this was the band for Europe both days.
I really struggled finding a run frequency on Sunday and was hopping all over
the band making Qs any way I could.

10- Spent a lot of time with the second radio on 10 meters working South
American multipliers. Played around with short bursts of calling CQ with the
beam pointed West and had some loud VK and ZL stations call in along with a
lone JA. Sunday morning the band tried to open to Europe but it wasn't any
where close to runnable from here.

Kevin, N5DX
