Comments:

In my 56th consecutive CQWW CW Contest, operated at home for the first time in
34 years. Plans for a quick trip elsewhere did not work out this year.

Repaired a few broken antennas and hings before the contest, but was unable to
get power-line noise source fixed. Noise was between S-7 and 10-over-9 in all
directions west through north to east on all bands. Even an antenna essentially
on the ground that usually can hear was impaired, except on 80-meters. The noise
appears to have been coming from a pole just across the street.

Operation therefore consisted of S&Ping, working reasonably loud stations. With
the noise-blanker and noise-reduction functions going, and switching between
antennas for receive, at least some stations could be worked.

Had the objective of making 1000 QSOs and 1 Million points, and after 24 hours,
with only 559 QSOs, did not think it would happen. However, on Sunday morning.,
the noise went away. For the last 8 hours, the contest was actually enjoyable.
I could not only hear again, but could even CQ successfully occasionally.

The local weather has been damp the last two days, and the line noise has been
gone. Consequently, when the electric company comes on Wednesday, nothing will
be found, and the problem will rear its ugly head again in the future.
