We really enjoyed great conditions of CQ WW SSB 2011, so we spent last week
before this year's contest arguing what the conditions might look like during
the contest weekend. We checked SN every day and we were really dissapointed
when we seen only 71 on Friday. But it turned out to be sufficient enough to
get great pileups on 10 and 15 meter band!(10 min. rate 300-390, and hour rate
>200)
Conditions were great, but they are not the only thing which makes you a
pileup. We spent a lot of time improving our setup. We got a new linear and new
full size 3el yagi for 40m. Rest of the antennas remained basically the same as
last year: 3el yagi for 20m, 4el yagi for 15m and 6el yagi for 10m. Plus we had
a 3el tribander for the second linear and various wire dipoles for lower bands.
Our goal was to get two antennas for each band.
For the contest we were four operators. We were luckily able to operate full 48
hours this year. One of us was operating and the rest was fighting the RFI or
just simply enjoyed the snow outside, hi. For those who are not familiar with
weather in OK land, it is not very common to get 10cm of snow at the end of the
October! But that was not the only suprise of the weekend - local police visited
us on Sunday, fortunately only to see us operating.
See you next year OMs! 73! de team OK1OUE/OK7O
