TSUMAMI report
Around midnight, just when we look forward
to things slowing down so we can
get a little cat nap,
this chicken farm was blown away
by a Tsumami of signals from EU.
Some of you guys may have experienced
such a phenomenon, but let me tell you,
this old guy ain't never seen such a thing
in the 40 years we've been on this farm.
I was blown away by all the loud signals,
stumbling with 'fat fingers',
gasping for breath, expecting the roof
to be blown away any second.
Fortunately there are some really
wide awake state side guys on the 160 band.
Since it was so obvious I was overloaded
with the DX,
the W's and N's came rushing to my rescue
and insisted they be put in my log
before I totally lost the whole farm.
Ah just hope my audio recorder
didn't suffer the same overload as I.
It will be interesting to listen
to the crushing sounds and pick out
some of those guys that were so intent on helping.
The experience was too much for this old man,
so M and I decided I better go to bed
and not take a chance of having to go through
the same thing when the JA's start coming through.
That worked out very well.
By time I got up this morning
it was very easy to find a cq'ing freq
and there was definitely no stress of working any dx.
Special thanks to
ZL1BYZ, ZL4AS, J77A, 5k1MW, HI8MA
for insisting I get them in the log.
There were others but I've lost them in the 'fog'.
To all the EU's .
I now understand the problem you guys have
picking my signal out of 5 layers of state side calls.
No doubt Tree will be overwhelmed
by necessity of reworking the contest
logging check program to accommodate the huge scores .
Hey Guys, get ready,
the real WD5R
will be on 160 SSB in couple weeks.
Doug, n5ect
2nd in command at WD5R
