Comments:

My only antenna was a sloper, 70 ft (21m) long and 20 ft (6m) high, kinda short
and low for this band; and  I couldn't hear well 'cuz I'm in a densely
populated neighborhood, surrounded by RF-noisy streetlights and houses full of
switching power-supplies, plasma TVs, etc., including three houses within 100
ft of my antenna.  My background noise level, indicated by my receiver's
S-meter when I tuned to a channel devoid of signals was always over S9.
