KB1H M/2 â€" ARRL DX SSB 2013
Not being the mode of choice for the crew here we still always give it our
best. Busy schedules and weather left all the parts broke during the CW weekend
still untouched. Less operators and even a few of the regulars ill left manning
the station quite a chore.
With 40M, 20M and 15M antennas not indicating correctly this weekend seemed
like the International Direction Finding Contest. A lot of turning antennas for
peak signals.
List of operators was W1UJ, NB1U, K1EBY, KB1H, and a short visit by a newbie,
K1RAX. SSB always seems more difficult than CW especially when short-handed.
Best individual hour was by W1UJ with a 207. Best total hour was 269. Great JA
run on 15M to end the last hour of the contest.
Once again GetScores (cqcontest.ru) provided entertaining competition. K9CT,
KB1H, and a great showing by K0TV made us all push harder. It looks like it
will be up to the log checking to see who wins, K9CT or KB1H, in our own little
contest. I am sure others will report still and so far N2NT takes the gold. K9ZO
who operates at K9CT always adds a humorous email to encourage us to take a
break due to local dive bar specials on wings and beer. I wonder how he knows
the name of these seedy places?
As always, great food and company. Thanks to the wives for preparing the fuel
to keep going and K1RAX for the coffee and doughnuts Sunday for a much needed
boost.
I apologize for poor audio at times due to trying to use the sound card for the
DVR recordings and appreciate the reports of the poor quality. Thanks for the
QSOs and our list of things to fix and projects to finish is long and I am
looking forward to a busy Spring/Summer on Bear Hill.
