Comments:
The conflicts I thought prevented me from operating in this Sprint were resolved
shortly before it started. I quickly drove up to the shack, got things set up,
and began operating. But no one else was on. I struggled to work a couple of
stations before Jay, N4OX, informed me that I was an hour early. Oh yeah...
Daylight Savings Time.
With the extra hour of prep time I mostly figured out how to use the SO2R box
that K6UFO installed at the shack. I ran out of time before I got the boom
mike audio working so I hooked up a desk mike to one radio and a second boom
mike to the other.
The rate was decent on 20 but slowed down on 40 and was even slower on 80.
Dave, AA6XV, showed up to analyze a problem on the other console radio while I
was on 40. If you heard CW in the background while I was transmitting it was
Dave fiddling with the third radio which was on speaker since I'd swiped the
headset for my Rube Goldberg SO2R.
As it turned out the SO2R was fairly useless except as a quick way to change
bands. I would have had 2 band changes except for going back to 20 to work one
station which wasted 6 minutes during which time I would have been more
productive on 40. I'm used to listening to both radios all the time on SO2R CW
but on phone the second radio is too distracting. I need to learn how best to
use the SO2R box to automatically switch audio.

-Mike, N7MH
