As usual, Hesston College graduation weekend was 7QP weekend. On Saturday
afternoon from 2:00-4:30, I took off for an Aviation reception in which I got
to give out a Clean Sweep mug to one of our Air Traffic Control students who
really outdid himself in Sweepstakes last year. I also took a half hour nap and
a number of breaks, so I made it until 2:00am once again.

Good activity this year with a much increased county count compared to the past
two years. In this qso party, I don't focus on mobiles because the rates are so
good otherwise. Having said that, I keep checking for mobiles, and invariably
they come up with a new county. Great job! There are always a few
"pop-up" mobiles as well, often travelling on the freeway in multiple
counties.

The fixed stations, mobile stations, and expeditions once again did a great
job. Overall, I worked 441 unique calls, up from 394 last year. Like last
year, I concentrated on the 7QP, but I always enjoyed working INQP and NEQP
stations who called needing Kansas. Of course I had to work the mobiles I heard
in all the contests!

Here's the top group from the mobiles, expeditions, and fixed stations:

12 K7EAR/r
09 K7LIX/r N7XU/m
07 N7WA/m W7YAQ
06 K5YAA/m K7WP-worked all 6 bands on CW!
-- only mobiles listed now since there were so many at 5 and 4 --
05 K7BG/m
04 WW7D/m KT7G/m KS5A/m
03 NX7DX/m N4DQ/m KF7ADM/m
02 KI0RH/m

Here's my county history plus this year's stats. I did operate in 2006 (the
first year), but only put in 9 hours that year so it's not included.

2007 2008 2009 2010 2011 2012 2013 : MAX POSSIBLE
--14 --14 --13 --14 --14 --15 --15 : 15 Arizona (sweep)
--16 --15 --21 --22 --14 --18 --20 : 44 Idaho
--24 --21 --16 --27 --13 --12 --13 : 56 Montana
--08 --04 --08 --11 --07 --10 --07 : 17 Nevada
--34 --33 --30 --28 --31 --31 --32 : 36 Oregon
--19 --20 --20 --18 --17 --11 --14 : 29 Utah
--31 --26 --27 --32 --32 --30 --32 : 39 Washington
--07 --13 --07 --05 --08 --06 --13 : 23 Wyoming (K5YAA/m!)
------------------------
-153 -146 -142 -157 -136 -133 -146 : 259 total counties
-550 -621 -611 -654 -694 -640 -695 : total contacts (new PB)
15.0 16.4 16.1 17.6 14.1 13.5 14.1 : total hours

My score this year (233,892) was also a personal best.

In Oregon, I missed CLT MAL SHE WCO. I know N7XU/m was in MAL.

In Washington, I missed ASO COL FER PEN SAN THU WAL. I know N7WA/m was in ASO
and perhaps others.

I've also been keeping track of counties worked in the 7QP each year. No one is
likely to work all 259 in one year, but if you combine the years, I'm down to 31
remaining. This year, I picked up five new ones:

IDBUT IDCUS NVHUM WAGAR WYNIO

Here are the ones I have never worked in the 7QP :

AZ : none
ID : ADM BEN BLA CAM CAR CLA FRA FRE LEW ONE POW WAS
MT : BLA DAN DEE GOL LIB MAD ROO ROS SHE STI SWE TRE WHE WIB
NV : MIN
OR : none
UT : none
WA : ASO FER
WY : UIN WAS

The 7QP is a unique effort over a very wide area. Thanks to the CODXC and all
the participating stations for another job well done!

Listen for the KSQP the last weekend in August. 105 counties to work (N6MU
worked all of them the last two years running), more antique amateur radio
stamps to earn, more plaques to win, and of course something new. If I have
great propagation to 7-land, it stands to reason that you should have great
propagation to Kansas. Stay tuned!

73, Bob, w0bh
