Comments:

Guess I've been operating SS since late 1950's. Good to find quite a few with
even earlier checks than me! My CW, never more than adequate (though passing
the Extra code seemed easy) has not gotten any better with old age! For this
contest I attempted to use mainly the keyboard and N1MM macros. I successfully
interfaced my FLEX 5000 and N1MM after many hours of struggling with the virtual
audio cable software, FLEX Power SDR software, and N1MM software. The result was
wonderful most of the time, but required continuous mouse click switching
between the FLEX SDR software and the N1MM software. When I forgot to click
back to N1MM, my keyboard entered data made PowerSDR to jump to a new band and
frequency. That happened many times Saturday. I disappeared and did not
complete the contact! Apologies to those affected. On Sunday I checked out
10M and saw a KP4 listed (who was heard 59) which would have given me a sweep.
Every time I transmitted on 10M (3 attempts), my computer locked up
(RFI?)requiring a hard reboot which took a couple of minutes each time.
Following those reboots, my keyboard would no longer work with N1MM and I spent
the better part of an hour testing, diagnosing, and reprogramming the three
software programs in order to get everything to work again.
Recovering from a hernia operation, I wasn't able to put mt little Hygain
TH-3Jr on the tower so used my backup antenna, a bent 160M dipole fed with
latter line for 15 and 20M. For 40M, where most of my contacts were, I used a
dipole at 65' which works well. Never did find another KP4 on 15/20/40 to
complete the sweep. The last few hours after giving up on further contesting,
I had my DX cluster send me only Puerto Rican spots. Nada.
Thanks for the Qs!
