Comments:
Wow! That was fun!!
Conditions were excellent for the times that I was on. Happily surprised to
find 10m open both days with very deep openings. Best QSO on 10m was with
YB0MWM.
Activity and operating skills continue to improve. 10 years ago it took some
luck to get a 100+ hour on RTTY. Now it is the norm. Guys are much more
efficient in sending their info.
Best ever rate hour on RTTY mode. (SH5 says best 60 minutes had 178 QSOs) Had
most of an hour where I could run on both 10 and 15m at the same time. That is
a real challenge and exciting to manage everything when it happens. Need to
work on my macros.
Took Saturday afternoon off to visit the W1UE multi-two operation at K1LZ.
Operated there for 5 hours. Very well engineered station and very loud!
Very good opening to Japan on 15m around 22z on Sunday. Worked JH4UYB on 40, 20
and 15.
Worked a number of stations that told me they were QRP. I am happy for them,
but that is no reason to make getting their call sign even more difficult by
adding "/QRP"! :)
Lots of new calls that weren't in the super check partial. If you have any
doubt about the future of contesting, the amount of activity and new calls in
this contest offer lots of reason for optimism.
Will conditions repeat in 4 weeks for the CQ WW SSB Contest? Let's hope for
the best.
Randy, K5ZD
