The goal was to improve my CQWW RTTY personal best and, at the same time, to do
better than before in every measure: Qs, Q points, countries, zones,
states/provinces. Mission accomplished. Conditions, when compared to last year,
were merely OK; nothing to write home about. Lower bands were slightly better
perhaps. 20m OK. 15m shined just like last year. But 10m was a major
disappointment - only marginally open; and a naïve schmuck like me, based on
last year, hoped for a miracle. The 24th cycle is not to be trusted.

I was able to maintain a run on 20m (my RTTY contest first) only to have a
known "power plant" contest station move onto my frequency after I
was there 2+ hours (hey, I didn't say it was an effective run) and start
berating me in open text demanding that I QSY. Needless to say I became hopping
mad and refused. Two lessons learned: 1- my long standing assertion that good
manners are gone to hell is supported by evidence yet again, and 2- I am heard
well in Europe (Yippee!).
