Comments:

The first 2 hours of the contest were terrible.  High noise level toward the
east and south plus poor propagation resulted in only 3 contacts in adjacent
grids. However after turning the equipment back on at 10 pm, the band seemed
much better, especially to Wisconsin. Not sure why all of the Wisconsin
stations were using their 6-digit grid address, though.
