Comments:

The was one of the worst WAE weekends I can remember -- personal history says
4th best, but I think it was worse than that. Treated it very casually as
conditions weren't good enough to warrant any serious time in the chair.

20M was open to Europe both evenings and mornings, and 15M was open briefly on
Saturday morning, but the bands weren't polar-path friendly otherwise. Very
tough going anywhere but 20M. 

After the contest, I spent some prime Sunday evening time retuning the 40M wire
quad. Realized on Saturday night that something wasn't right -- just four
countries worked, all on the Steppir dipole and none on the quad aimed at
Europe. 

Suspect: the various 80M vertical/radial wires growing in number near the quad
elements have detuned the big 40M antenna and it needed to about 250 khz of
tuning on both elements (reflector lengthened, driven shortened). Seems to be
better after the tweaking, just in time to not be useful in WAE where it
matters. Not sure how long it has been out of whack like that, but I bet it's
been a while. Worked a new one (Western Sahara) with it as I was typing this
update. Maybe it is working now.
