With my Yaesu FT-817 QRP radio and a 160m Doublet up 90ft I found out that I was
exactly one half as effective during the SSB 160 portion of the contest as I was
with 104 Q's in the CW portion earlier in the month. I also realized that the
160m Doublet fed with 450ohm ladder line worked 100% better than my 160m
Inverted L also up at 90ft but fed with coax so this was a 100% ladder line
contest for me. I surprised a LOT of people during the contest when I told them
I was only running 5watts. Conditions weren't the best but I sure had a fun time
seeing what could be done with only 5watts on 160meters.
