Comments:
Multi-Two in its most primative form. Two radios, two amps, one short tower and
lots of dedication by the ops here!
What a great time and super conditions. We had the honor of hosting old friend
Dave Donnelly, K2SS, who now has a winter home in Tucson. Dave was operating at
such luminary multiop stations as W2PV and K2GL/N2AA when we met in the 70's,
and record holding operations in the Caribbean too. Of course, when we found
out earlier in the year that Dave was in Arizona Outlaw territory, we had to
strong-arm him to make sure he joined the right contest club!
Adding to the old home week flavor was one of our regular ops, Lou K1YR (aka
WH7M). Lou and Dave had both lived close to eachother, in CT, many years ago,
and even operated some M/S from Lou's house. They, too, had not seen eachother
in years. Getting us three together made from some interesting, and fun,
story-telling and probably accounted for time we missed operating this weekend.
It was just too much fun to talk about bygone contest days!
Add another op regular to our scene, Kevin W9CF, who, because of family
obligations, only could be with us Friday night. Kevin contributed greatly,
manning the 80/160 operation under some severe noise conditions. He-man stuff!
Of course I can never say enough good things about my xyl, and fellow Arizona
Outlaw, Sandy N7RQ. She kept us well fed and took a operating shift too.
And me, I still do what I do, whatever that is. In my 57th year of contesting,
it just doesnt get any better than this super weekend.
The score this year was a record for the N7AT station here. What an enjoyable
time. No tech problems, and other than the 80/160 noise, nothing at all
negative to say. I know you all enjoyed it to.
73, Bob K8IA
