Comments:

This has to be my worst contest ever. Drove to FN03vx, about an hour's drive,
arrived at 8 am. Set up in 5 minutes. Nothing heard on 1296, or on 144.260
the designated liason freq. so eventually tuned down to the chatters freq
144.205. Eventually heard KA1ZE/3 in FN01, broken up, not beaming at me. Then
on sked at 8:30, heard K8TQK in EM89je calling me, heard him only once, he
probably did not hear me returning. Tried on 1296, nothing. Wasting time, so
packed up by 9 am and moved east to FN04xa.

At FN04xa, still silent bands for microwavers. Tuned to 144.205 and KA1ZE/3
was now loud, working VE3EU in EN93 who I could hear also. Neither of these
have 1296. I worked VE3EU, and tuned back to 144.260, still dead. ever heard
a soul at any time. It is now 10:30, very doubtful conditions will change, so
packed up for the hour and a bit home, and actually fighting sleep as I drove,
not good.

Got on the computer to see how others were doing, all having about the same
fate over a wide area from EN50's to the east coast. N8DJB reported
"worst conditions in my 25 years on vhf". Finally, Dana VE3DS in
FN03fq about 60 kmwest said to try from my driveway. Not good, went to park a
block away at 12:35 and aimed at him running 40W to a pair of 45 loopers on
1296, nothing heard either way and nothing heard on 144 either. I tried, and
died.

IF VA3HD had been on from home in FN14bb, I would surely have a few qso's and
maybe a score of 20 to 30.

Thanks to all who participated, and those lucky enough to get in the scoring.
Thanks also to the SVHFS for their dedication and sponsorship. Must be better
days ahead.
