Comments:

One antenna for both bands: wire, 30 ft (9m) above ground.
No DVK. S&Ping for 8 hours was all my voice could do. I ran for just 11
minutes, and made 18 Q's, but had to quit 'cuz my voice failed.

I worked this contest for only eight hours, while the Sun was up on Saturday,
because my antenna tuner had been damaged by lightning; and, without it, I
could not operate on 160 through 20 meters. I'll spend Sunday working on the
tuner, trying to get it ready for the W1AW/1 operation beginning Tuesday.

On the high bands I'm disadvantaged by 10 dB or more relative to ops/stations
having directional antenna on towers; but my low and non-directional antenna
didn't do too badly today.

VOACAP did a wonderful job of predicting propagation. Time after time, I heard
signals from distant mults appear within 20-30 minutes of when VOACAP said they
would, and disappear when VOACAP said they would. I did not waste time trying
to work stations when they first appeared and were weak, because VOACAP said
they would get stronger; and, sure enough, they did. Then I worked them
easily.
