Comments:
Excellent crew with excellent conditions, 300+ single band hours and then it all
went away. Then it came back, then no one can hear us for a few hours then they
can. Repeat wash, rinse cycle. 80 and 160 was a bust for us but 40 actually
produced all night when every other band was stone rear-end dead quiet.
N6TR, Tree had the best hour, 320 and AL7IF, Wigi got the first 100 Q's in the
log, both won a cookie. New guests from Texas, KK7JS, Scott and from Ohio,
Ryan, AB8XX had fun with the pile-ups not knowing these conditions were
actually awful half the time. K5ZO came back to run rate after a station
inspection tour here last March during the WPX that went well. The aurora did
not impress Lloyd as he was part of the old crew in Fairbanks from years ago.
Kris, AL2F did his normal high rate hours. We had to use a goat for the
sacrifice to kick the bands in since he seemed attached to his dog Tuna who was
assigned station crumb on floor clean-up. Both Jeff, KL2HD and Carl, WL7BDO put
in a full 48 hour day/night cycle and ran rate for hours or mostly walked as it
turned out.
11K qso's isn't bad for this part of the world and I'm sure it will look FB in
a few years when we crank out 5K. No position during this contest was left
empty if there was any chance of a Qso. We called a lot of DX that could not
hear us. Just bad luck with these three flares that slapped us around up here
this far north.
73 Rich, KL7RA NPCG SS code next.
