Comments:
Didn't know what to expect between an SFI over 200 and solar flares. It started
a bit slow but gradually warmed up going into the second day, and we managed to
come in just a bit ahead of last year's final score but a little shy of the raw
score. We'll see what happens after log checking. The low bands were pretty
slow and noisy but the high bands were superb although 10 meters to EU petered
out somewhere in the near half of zone 15. As always, most contacts were
S&P although we did manage a few runs on 10 and 15. 10 was definitely
weaker than last year but 15 made up for it. This year also saw our first foray
into 160 meters with the addition of a new antenna.
A big plus in the setup was the instantaneous and automatic networking with
N1MM Plus! Kudos to Tom and the N1MM programming team for that and all the
other nice new features.
Run station: Pro III & PW-1 to Optibeam Yagi, Thunderbolt 40/80 vertical,
and MA-160V vertical.
Mult station: Pro III & AL-80 to Cushcraft R8 vertical, occasionally
flicking over to the Yagi for a moment to catch a juicy new one.
73 and thanks for all the Q's, and thanks to hosts Mike, Emily, and the cats
for hospitality.
Carl, WS7L, on behalf of the W7TVC team.
