Comments:
Came to OH0V to test the station and automation with pre-tune-automatic
amplifiers for the first time.
Found some phenomena that were not available at barefoot power levels.
It will be a lot of Fun to fix many interstation issues I found at kW power
levels. I believe there is more to discover later on.
The contest was a typical one. Normal preparations. I climbed towers verifying
antenna related mechanics and SWR curves before the contest as this is a remote
location. I travel about 10 hours to get here. I use contest weekends for
maintenance activities.
I had no set score/QSO/mult targets. I just participated the SAC 2014 CW to
test the station and make a better improvement plan.
The activity levels on CW are amazing in Europe !
I really enjoy operating CW contests despite CW has not been a requirement for
novices fore more than a sunspot cycle.
Operating provided few surprises, some of them were big. Ten was the biggest
Fun. I celebrated each and every DX QSO until a VK answered from several F2
hops away. Luckily this was a CW contest. I lost my breath and went speechless
with amazement. Ionosphere does Fun tricks to us. Then there was more thrills
to come from Oceania. Some unbelievable moments to remember. Thanks for the
QSOs.
Lot of JA. Only maybe two or three Chinese stations QRV.
To summarize:
I achieved the targets for the weekend.
I got a good list to work on during the next month so we will get OH0V/OH0K to
a better level.
And, I enjoyed the contest. CW contest. Many more contests will follow after we
get the station to function as it should.
Now - after the contest - I am here still for some 15 good hours. I am
continuing to think how to fix the 20m interference to ten. There are double
stubs. There are filters. Everything has been done to fulfill specifications
beyond typical ham requirements. Or so it seems. Some interference levels are
worse than what I have at OH4A. That is, there are issues I can find and fix to
improve the station.
Hear You later.

Jukka OH6LI at OH0V
