Comments:

Conditions were poor with all the resulting frustrations, but generally things
are going to get worse anyway as Cycle 24 winds down. I figure I getter get
used to it. That's why I went to 40m to sort of bulk up for the lean times
ahead.

N1MM+ (mis)behaved as usual. Still needs work.

I did make good use of the real time lightning detection web sites. We had
T-storms rolling through Saturday evening and I had to go QRT for a while, but
I followed the lightning and saw it was moving away, sort of off to the SSW, an
unusual direction, so I soon got back on the air and wasn't so concerned about
becoming KFH.

If you trust me (not everyone does, ask W6WRT), here are two sites using the
same data but with different mapping schemes. They should be very useful to
folks living in lightning country, like Florida. The theory and technology
behind them is fascinating, too.

GRITTY seemed to struggle a bit with all the lightning QRN. It probably likes
sharper, cleaner data bits, not all clobbbered and mushed up by static.
Overall, though, it was very useful given the poor conditions all weekend. It
and 2Tone saved my backside many a time.

Given the conditions and my station's limitations, I was very happy with my
results. I got clobbered by high power guys here and in Europe, but that's how
it goes. Good for them.

The Russian RTTY is next for me, then the September Superbowl, otherwise known
as the CQ-WW-RTTY. Good luck to everyone.

Ken, AB1J
