First off, thanks to the many who I know struggled to hear me. To those who
didn't want to prolong the lengthy & difficult Q's at the expense of their
scores, I get it. But thanks to all. This is my first real contest effort since
May when I experienced Shingles of my cranial nerves called "Ramsay Hunt
Syndrome". It causes a myriad of issues and if you look at what you find
on Google, you will want to get your shingles shot as fast as possible, lest
this happen to you. This Ramsay Hunt created many issues including a permanent
70 dB loss of hearing in my right ear. operating is not as easy with the
persistent Tinnitus that has become my constant companion but now it is time to
get back to my favorite love of DXing & Contesting.

I feel either my antenna system (Cross between a sloper & Inv-L) is
suffering somewhat from last year, This time I had a near impossible time
working DX, I could hear them but they couldn't hear me. I made Q's with GW
& EI, the rest of the DX was Caribbean and XE. I also made no California
contacts whatsoever this year and last year they were calling me on QRP.
Overall, last year was much different and I felt like I could work most
everything I heard, not this year.

Always have my eternal issue with AMTRAK less than 100' from my antennas. The
overhead power lines are always an issue with noise on 160. & when I listen
to the south I get the neighbors RFI. Still, the band was mostly excellent as to
QRN & RFI and I had a great time. This is a great hobby and it only works
when we share.

See you in the mud.

73, Gary, KA1J
