Comments:

I was a QRP mouse skittering around the stomping of the High Power 
Alligators. Look out - they're trying to do the two-step QSY Rule!

I received more than 4 hours of emails about this 4 hour contest, 
inviting me to try it, even though I have reliably appeared in the Sprint 
SSB since at least 2002, and occasionally winning QRP. 

Congratulations to the marketing team on increasing the activity. More 
activity does provide more contacts, and scores will be way up - thanks 
also to the additional Multipliers. QRM levels were way, way, way up, 
and I heard several complaints from ragchews and nets who go stomped. 
I think the new frequency ranges helped.  

I'm at the high-rise in San Francisco, so I was remote to NN7SS in WA.
Remote was working Thursday night for NCCC Sprint, then NOT 
working Friday night for the practice, then finally working again just in 
time for the Sprint SSB (well, 3 minutes late.) I don't have a
"monitor" 
function when remote (it would double the bandwidth required) so I 
hope my audio was OK. 

First hour 20m was total chaos! Some fast, some slow, some loud, some 
weak, some following the rules, some just winging it... Second hour was 
"productive" as people got in the groove, and some of the QRM crowd 
moved off to 40m or beyond.

Usually 40m feels like a slippery slope, but this year it was more fun.
I was able to S&P pretty well, and worked twice the usual QSOs.

80m is usually a QRP SSB disaster. My previous record is 7 QSOs, 
this year I got 9. There were plenty of loud signals, but only a few 
had "good ears." 

My goal was 1500 pts, since I only contest for Prizes rather than for 
the satisfaction of exercising my radio skills. I passed that goal before 
leaving 20m, and sucked it up to operate full time right to the end. Well, 
I took some short breaks when the DIN was too loud or my blood 
pressure too high. I've learned to put up with it all and carry on.

Conclusion:  Activity way up. QRPers fully stomped.
