Comments:

Single band effort this year. I have a four-square on 80M and apparently I was
"loud" into Europe as many came back right at my noise floor making
copy difficult. But I did work several who were QRP, including one station who
was running!

I definitely was not loud into JA as I called many but only managed to work
one station. And I had to use my NW Beverage antenna to be able to hear him.
To make copy more difficult there was the Wallops Island wide-band ionosphere
sounder which went "BRAP-BRAP-brap-brap-brap" when I was trying to
copy a weak station. Plus, there were several SSB stations including one right
at the bottom end of the band which made copy difficult on occasion. Also, on
Saturday night I had precipitation static to contend with. We had 6 inches of
snow during the day Saturday (on top of 8 inches earlier in the week) and it
turned into freezing rain during the late evening hours.

A bit more than half of my contacts were made by running. My apologies to all
as this CW-challenged operator struggled with many of the weaker calls. Plus,
I did not have the benefit of packet spots and when I was tuning through the
band I would wait patiently to copy a station only to find out I had already
worked him. This was particularly true Saturday evening as I was lucky to find
a station I had not worked before.

Thanks to all for the contacts!

73, Sam W4PK
