Comments:

The last couple of weeks I had been making changes in the shack to facilitate
the use of a second transceiver for contesting. We were going to use Aurelio,
PC5A's TenTec Orion in an interlock setup. Unfortunately his TRX hasn't
returned from IG9Y so Mark, PA5MW was so kind to lend us his Orion.
Due to QRL we weren't able to start setting up the Orion until Friday 22:00Z
... and that's where Murphy showed up and we couldn't get it working within a
couple of minutes (Murphy used as an excuse for bad timing here ;)). So we
decided to start operating the contest with only 1 TRX (IC-7800) and take our
time to setup the 2nd radio outside a contest and make sure everything works as
it should. So about 1 hour after the contest started, we made our first QSO.
Conditions the first night weren't very good. No JA's or other far-east
stations were heared. Also just a handful of W/VE stations made it into the
log.

Then the second night was better and we mananger to work quite some W/VE's
(including NR4M :)) but again nothing from the far-east. Saturday afternoon
Rens, PA3FGA and Claudia PD5AX joined us and Rens took a chance to use the RX
setup and listen for some DX. Little QSO's were made but several coffee's were
consumed :)

Mark PA5MW joined us on Sunday and we were able to work a handfull of JA's.
Unfortunately we weren't able to work HS0ZIA who was CQ'ing a lot but obviously
had an RX issue ...

We found out that our weakness is our TX and we are looking into improving our
TX antenna before next contest season.

It was a lot of fun to work many of you again. All QSO's were recorded so drop
me a not if you want me to e-mail the recording or our QSO.

73 and see you in the CQ160SSB!
Frank, ON9CC
