Comments:

Little behind on start, I do not wear a watch - the beauty of retirement. 
Looked at 10m since I had heard a w4 calling CQ earlier in the day (a waste of
a couple of minutes).  Nice to have 15m.  Learned that the problems were a
combination of RF in unwanted places (could hear it in the headphones on 15m)
and the computer trying to down load updates and/or upload to the
"cloud". Turned off upload/download routines, tomorrow ferrites and
find loose or disturbed drainlines and reroute things (since this is portable
pictures will be saved of what is now installed and also of what works to kill
the problem.
