Comments:

Very casual operation here. Lost the Heil Proset Plus microphone Friday evening
to a cable fault. Took three hours to splice together a replacement, once I
located the point of failure (wiring in the mic line inside the strain-relief
section that attaches to the headphones). Back in the chair, I just didn't have
the motivation to keep pushing after losing prime-time hours on 20M and 40M so I
coasted with occasional runs through the rest of the weekend.

Lowest-ever all-band score as a result. Shame on the US vendors (pick any on
the web) that demand $40 and even $60 to mail via US Postal Service a $13
replacement Heil cable from California to BC. Gouging indeed.

The temporary fix will have be be permanent. If it breaks again, no more phone
contests, which may be Murphy's point anyway.
