Comments:

800 QSO's in SS CW equals a hard day at the office, real work! I had a huge
number of serial number repeat requests even from loud stations; perhaps being
their first WV, they wanted to be sure?? I have figured out pretty much how to
keep a reasonable rate going. The train sort of fell off the tracks just after
02Z when I was not getting many answers on 80 M. I was feeling fatigued, so
just bagged it in for the night seeing many hours below 60 in my evening
future. When everything is going near perfect, my last 10 rate rides in the
140's. I could probably tick it up a bit by sending faster.

My rotator is broken, but using my ladder line fed 80 M dipole on 20 may have
actually improved the 20 M numbers. 427 Q's on 20 is probably a best ever. I
was loud enough in all directions and picked up stations to the south, north,
and northeast that might have missed me otherwise especially around mid day. I
had a 2 el Force 12 yagi south, but signals from FL were only slightly better
than on the dipole. I had many backscatter callers on 20, most of which were
louder of the dipole, some were quite loud.

I made almost no effort to search for mults, only spending a few minutes early
Sunday on 20 to pick up VI and PR. VI is always there almost 100% of the time.
There were a passel of my usual nemesis NE stations who graciously called me,
about 6. My best rate of the contest was on a 20 meter run at 17Z with 88 Q's;
promptly at 18Z, my last 10 rate went from 145 to nothing worked in 3 minutes,
start of NFL football? During that magic 100 minutes starting at 1640Z, I was
called by new sections ID, MB (two spaced apart by one Q!), ONN (two total), AB
right after ONN, and a weak KL7RA! With a little luck, they will come to you.
With the high K index throughout the weekend, western Canada seemed suppressed
Saturday and AK and NT all weekend. I never heard another AK or ever heard NT.
I did S&P for NT a bit, but only when the run rate was really low.

My overall rate was 66/hr, I milked out best times by and large. Many thanks
for all of the QSO's; there were some great ops out there and some who were
struggling, but of course all QSO's were appreciated. Three stations who
apparently struggled to copy me on 40 scatter but completed Q's called again
later. Please don't call if you really cannot copy a station. I dug out quite a
few weak ones, just a few were too weak under the low level line noise.

Thanks and go PVRC!
73, Jeff
