Comments:

Thanks to John Evans for letting me use his great station in Poolesville again.
Everything worked.

I have a new toy: a Microham u2r. I'm testing it as a replacement for my SO2R
master. I used it with LPT port (Classic) control and it worked well. I really
like the feature that allows switching the headphones from stereo (one ear on
each radio) or automatic with a single keyustroke. The SO2R master used a
rotary switch. I'll try the Microham protocol (to get rid of the LPT port)
after Sweepstakes. I expect it to work well either way.

Wow - that was a memorable last section (NT). Perhaps the luckiest thing that
ever happened to me in a contest.

I had lost all hope of getting a sweep before my last break at 6:45PM EST.

After my last break (7:15PM), I though - "Well, I'll run on 40 and take a
pass through 20 meters on the second radio. Might as well point the beam
roughly at KL7 - it isn't worth selecting the three-elements on the stack
though - low beam only".

I had been through the upper part of 15 and 20 several times with beams pointed
Northwest. I decided to start at the bottom of the band since I had been at the
high end before.

First station on the band, CQing with no callers, was VY1AAA. I found him
immediately after the break. Couldn't hear him at all with the tower pointed
west. Got him in one call - there was nobody calling. :-)
