Comments:
Bummer of a contest. I chose SOSB 10 because it was fun the past few years.
But, I suspect the combination of a waning sunspot cycle, plus a CME which was
to hit at 1900Z on Saturday really caused a disruption of propagation.
I'd say the number of stations which were "loud" was considerably
less than in recent years, and those which could actually hear a pip-squeak
signal was minuscule. I'd find a station with a great signal, and it would CQ
in my face probably over 70% of the time. Sometimes, with patience, I'd find a
"peak" in QSB where no other stations were calling and I'd get a Q,
but these were few and far between.
Probably if I had had more patience I could I might have a few more Q's, so
I'm probably a wimpy contest op.
Thanks to the organizers of this event! I WILL be back, and WILL in the CW
event hopefully with better conditions. A friend had given me quite a few more
military surplus masts, so it might be possible to get a fixed array toward
Europe.
