Comments:

After a couple of years doing SOSB, and after meeting up at a hamfest in Madrid
in September, the ED3X lads decided that it was time to do another MS entry.

The 3 ops that usually man the station were deemed to be insufficient so your
scribe EA5ON was drafted in, plus two local ops, EA3JL and EA3OW, one a DXer
who's never contested before, the other a VHF contester. Both did an excellent
job considering their experience.

The guys had done a lot of work over the summer so setup on friday was
relatively painless. Wind up the 3 towers, set up the doublets for 80 and 160,
and the K9AY outside. I helped Eugeni with the antennas while Marcel set up the
stations inside. All ready to roll by about 9.30 when we ajourned for a
memorable dinner down at the village.

The next 48h were a whirlwind of operating, a number of frustrating moments but
also a number of those great fun moments that make multi op contesting so
enjoyable. Ever been in that situation where collective hysterical laughter
sets in and nobody can really remember why? Thanks to Jaume we ended up that
way on sunday afternoon! Thank heavens for DVKs :) There was a moment that in
spite of the poor conditions, that we might be able to acheive our goal, which
was the spanish MS title. But when 10m closed abruptly and early, we knew this
was a sign of a fizzle-out scenario, and in spite of our best efforts, we fell
about 700.000 points short.

The station played really well, the new tower for 10 and 15 worked flawlessly,
the inband station technology went without a hitch. We all ate (thanks in part
to Jaume's wife) and slept (in spite of Marcels booming voice). And even the
rain held off long enough to let us take down the station on monday morning.

My personal thanks to Eugeni and Marcel for the invite, and also to Jaume,
Victor, and Amadeo for sharing a fun contest. Also thanks to all of those who
called us, look forward to seeing you in the next one!
