Comments:
Huge level of activity!
15M opening to EU was on the "quiet" side but opened early and stayed
open late.
Skimmer assistance worked really well. I started off with VE7CC cluster
filtering but soon decided I wanted to step in the firehose and went with
straight reversebeacon unfiltered spot.
Two years ago I entered unassisted because I did not feel skimmer and manual
spots would really help me. The newest generation of RTTY skimmers is really
useful, and this time I knew assisturned on assistance and wow, so many more
mults found, and Q's found when CQ'ing slowed down too.
Activity was just huge, bands occupied edge to edge. I mostly ran in the top
part where it was less insanely packed.
Used all three of MMTTY, 2Tone, and GRITTY. MMTTY my main decoder... but in the
crush of nearby stations, 2Tone and GRITTY did a lot of heavy lifting too. I was
able to work many DX mults on 80M and 40M that were under bonecrushingly loud
non-so-DX. The waterfall on Gritty is just enormously useful. Very quickly
after contest start I turned IF gain way down to prevent AGC pumping and opened
receive bandwidth all the way to take advantage of 2Tone/GRITTY magic.
