Casual effort to hand out Qs. Station 5 watts from a Regency CR-123 converted CB
radio to a stock Radio Shack CB mag. mount whip on a patio Weber BBQ grill. The
SWR was low on 10 meters -- perhaps due to the grill being the ground plane? A
simple set up -- but it got out! First Q in the log Saturday morning was VP5CW
at 1645z! Strong Es to W4, W5 and W7 along with a few double hop Es to
Caribbean. Went out fixed mobile with a 1/4 wave whip on the car at 2000z.
Strong Es to New England along with some W2, W3 and W4 stations. Sunday only
one Q from home with W2GDJ at 1904z. It doesn't take much to make Qs on 10 when
it is open - appreciate the sharp ops who heard me. Link to the CR-123:
