FT1000MP, Alpha 78, 1 KW, TH6DXX, zepp, tee vertical. Fair conditions on most
bands. 10M had a fair opening to Europe on Sunday morning. On Saturday, only
a few stations in south west Europe were worked on 10M. Sunday worked as deep
in Europe as RU1A on 10M. Think many ops didn't check the band to find the
opening. Most of the signals from Europe were high power with big antennas.
Some good DX from all continents. Biggest surprise was 4W/N1YC on 40M Sunday
morning on first call when woke up early and went into the shack to try to work
some JAs on 80M. Had missed them on Saturday. When got to 80M on Sat AM about
1200Z, some JA sigs were OK, but they couldn't copy me. Sunday conditions were
much better than Saturday on all bands. Had some bothersome line noise on 10M
that the nose blanker only partially compensated for. Little atmospheric
noise. I usually work this contest from a multi op station and it was fun to
do it from home alone. Had several meal commitments with family and friends,
so missed some good openings around mid day and in the late afternoon and early
evenings. Thanks for all QSOs. 73, John, K4BAI.
