Comments:
Was conflicted about doing SB 10 or 80. I have a new 80m antenna and wanted to
try it out. I ended up doing SB10, but taking a little time on 80 at the start
of each day and at the end of each evening to test the antenna. I was
pleasantly surprised with the 80m results. I am trying to get a SAL-30 receive
antenna up before I actually contest on 80 or 160 so I won't be an alligator.
I had 71 contacts and 13 mults the first night which was not a great start, but
acceptable in declining sunspots. Worked some JAs and a 9M6. Saturday morning
I was working into the middle east and Indian Ocean all with good signals (two
3B8s!) until about 10 am local time when the EU run started to slow down. The
contest seemed like a slog through the mud from then on. I had huge noise
levels on Sunday which added to the misery. Some loud EU like EA and CT still
coming in right to the end of the contest, so conditions were not bad though.
Here are my statistics. I like to compare them to the 10m stats from K3LR which
I consider to be the gold standard. Thanks to K3LR for posting these!
